Our full name is “The Parenting New Zealand Education Trust” – and we are registered as a non-profit organization under the Charities legislation.
Parenting New Zealand is a secular organisation
Our mission is “to empower and celebrate parents and parenting.”
We believe that strong families are the essential building block of any strong and resilient community, and that parents are the leaders of families.
We seek to capture the experience, worries and wisdom of parents by listening to them and collecting their views. When appropriate we will represent parent’s views to a wider audience.
The fundamental mode of operation of Parenting New Zealand is “parents supporting parents”.
Parents themselves are the greatest experts on parenting.
“The real expertise in matters of parenting does not reside in Government agencies, or in academic institutions, but in the family homes of average kiwis.”
Mike Styles, Director Parenting New Zealand.
“Our children are living in a world that is changing far more dramatically than it was a century or even decades ago. Far more significant than the Internet or the possibilities opened up by genetic engineering, are the transformations in the most fundamental of structures … the family.”
Jan Pryor, Director of Victoria University’s Roy McKenzie Centre for the Study of Families.
